Scott SM Stubbs was born and raised in South Florida, then moved to North Carolina, Indiana and, finally, New York City. He currently lives in Brooklyn where for twelve years he and his wife co-owned a bar called Mission Dolores. While pursuing his MFA at Indiana, he won an Academy of American Poets prize as well as the National Society of Arts of Letters prize. Winner of the Rose Warner Poetry Prize from Freshwater Review, he has been nominated for Best New Poets and the Pushcart Prize. He served as a staff-scholar at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and has been supported by Sewanee Writers’ Conference. He has taught poetry classes in high schools and universities and looks forward to doing more of it.
